Ruler of Ras Al Khaima: Expo 2020 Dubai is a Source for National Pride

 

H.H Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, said that the Expo 2020 Dubai will provide an exceptional and unique experience that would become a source of pride for the UAE. His Highness highlighted that the international event enjoys exceptional support from the leadership of the country and the UAE society as a whole.

 

“Expo 2020 Dubai is a national pride. It is an unprecedented platform to showcase the achievements of our country’s development and the role it plays in building a better future for humanity. It is our duty to take this opportunity to build a sustainable heritage that would benefit our country in its path towards becoming a role model for developing countries in various domains, driven by the futuristic vision of its leadership, and the unrelenting efforts of its aspiring sons,” His Highness added.

 

His Highness’ comments came as he welcomed in his palace at Saqr bin Mohammed City Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau. The meeting was attended by Najeeb Al Ali, Executive Director of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau; Aisha Al Ghaferi, Director of RAK Office; and the RAK Office team. Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimi elaborated to His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah on the latest updates in construction and preparations for Expo 2020 Dubai from. She also highlighted the most prominent programs and features conducted to assure the success of this global event.

 

Support and commitment

Her Excellency thanked His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, for his support and commitment to the event. She highlighted that Expo 2020 Dubai is the first of its kind global event hosted in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region. The event, Al Hashimi continued, reflects the vision of the wise leadership for every Emirati to contribute to the success of their country in hosting this event.

 

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Bin Saqr Al Qasimi; Saleh Ahmed Al Shal, Advisor to His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah; Professor Hasan Hamdan Al-Alqaim Al Zaabi, President of the American University in Ras Al Khaimah; and Mohammed Al Kait, Advisor at the Emiri Diwan.

 

RAK Office Inauguration

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, inaugurated yesterday at the Julfar Towers the Expo 2020 Dubai Office in Ras Al Khaimah. The inauguration was attended by HE Reem Bint Ibrahim Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, Najeeb Al Ali, Executive Director of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, and a number of directors and managers at local and federal entities in RAK.

 

Following the inauguration, HH commented that as a global event, Expo 2020 Dubai will enhance the pioneering position occupied by the UAE at the regional and global levels, and position Dubai as an international destination and a hub for cultural interaction, thanks to the unprecedented support graciously extended to the event by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The event will be an opportunity for the men and women of the UAE, who play a primary role in the journey for innovation, communication, and interaction represented by the event.

 

His Highness added that inaugurating an office for Expo 2020 Dubai in RAK is an important step, and an opportunity for individuals and institutions to contribute to the success of this global event. This step, HH continued, also highlights the role of the event as a national platform that connects minds and creates a better future. Expo 2020 Dubai will also enhance the UAE’s pioneering position in various domains, including innovation based economy.

 

A Communication Platform

The Expo 2020 Dubai office in Ras Al Khaimah will facilitate communication with the public and different institutions, with the goal to engage individuals, government agencies and small and medium enterprises in the country’s march towards Expo 2020. The office will avail valuable opportunities for partnerships and for attracting young talents from around the UAE to take part in innovation, connection, and idea exchange leading to the great event in 2020.

 

HE Reem Al Hashimi said that the inauguration of the Expo 2020 Dubai office in Ras Al Khaimah is a step towards the realization of the vision of the country’s wise leadership, in engaging the people of the UAE to contribute to the global event.

 

The Ras Al Khaimah office will provide a platform to facilitate communication and cooperation with citizens, residents, institutions and companies, ensuring that all the components of the UAE fabric get a chance to contribute to the event and its success, showcasing to the world the advanced thinking and the unity of the Emirati society, as well as the openness of this society towards all cultures in the world.

 

Najeeb Al Ali, Executive Director of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, commented that this step comes in line with the guidance of the wise leadership to assure that Expo 2020 Dubai is an event for the whole country, and that all parties around the UAE have the responsibility to participate in its success. The team at the new office will work on informing the community of the opportunities offered by the event, today and in the future.

 

Expo 2020 Dubai will create new business opportunities and attract investments before and during the event. It will also strengthen the position of the UAE as a global destination blessed with peace and prosperity, and a hub for communications, collaboration, and enhancing creativity and innovation that positively impact humanity as a whole.

 

Programs and activities

HE Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, responded to our question by explaining that the office will remain in place until 2020, in accordance with the current plan, highlighting the plans to inaugurate other offices in other Emirates. Al Hashimi also revealed that a number of activities and programs will soon be launched by the RAK office.

 

Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, said in an exclusive statement that the first representative office of Expo 2020 Dubai is looking to attract citizens and residents from all over the country to participate in the preparations for the upcoming global event.

 

He called upon all parties in Ras Al Khaimah and around the UAE to join the march towards Expo 2020 Dubai, and participate in the various initiatives launched by the event, in order to reach an unprecedented event by all standards, making the event an exemplary success.

 

He stressed the importance of the opening of the new office in Ras Al Khaimah, given the unique geographical location of the Emirate, and the exceptional touristic and natural capabilities it enjoys. He highlighted that SMEs lie in the heart of the efforts involved in preparing for the event in all stages.

 

The support of Expo 2020 Dubai for SMEs is apparent in allocating 20% of direct and indirect expenditure of the event to SMEs, with 1235 contracts to date awarded to SMEs, accounting for 54.9% of the total contracts awarded.

 

He outlined that inaugurating a representative office for Expo 2020 Dubai in RAK comes in line with directives of the wise leadership that event is a national project for the whole country, open to all contributions in its main pillars: Mobility, sustainability, and Opportunity.

 

Communication channels will be opened with SMEs, individuals and institutions. It is expected that the number of volunteers will reach 30 thousand individuals supporting event’s activities over 6 months. He also pointed out that staff working in the representative office at RAK will all be UAE national talents from RAK itself.

 

He highlighted the initiatives launched by Expo 2020 Dubai, including Dubai Live, assuring that new initiatives will soon be launched targeting volunteers who wish to take part in the event.

 

Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director of Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, stressed the importance of involving young national talents via the department of youth.

 

“In addition to activities, educational tours and volunteer programs, our team has adopted a number of mechanisms aimed at attracting youth and inviting them to explore their potential, including the Expo 2020 Dubai Vocational Training Program, which inspired JAFZA to launch a similar initiative titled Tumoohi, which aim to enhance opportunities for young Emiratis in the job market.
