Success of Jiu-Jitsu in UAE due to co-operation, hard work: RAK Ruler June 13,2017

RAS AL-KHAIMAH, 13th June, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, said that the UAE’s success in the sport of jiu-jitsu would not have been accomplished without the cooperation and hard work of everyone involved, as well as the great support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, of the sport.

This statement was made as the Ras al-Khaimah Ruler received Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, President of the Emirates Sports and Cultural Club, and Mahmoud Hassan Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Club, as well as several members of its administrative and technical board and some of its jiu-jitsu competitors, following the club’s recent achievements in several championships.

The Ras al-Khaimah Ruler said that the practice of jiu-jitsu as a sport is steadily progressing year after year due to the attention of the wise leadership while praising the success of the Emirates Sports and Cultural Club in the sport.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi expressed his appreciation to H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi for his great hospitality and his support for the athletes. He also praised the outstanding efforts of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

>Mahmoud Hassan Al Shamsi thanked H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi for his hospitality and for welcoming the jiu-jitsu competitors while stressing that the club’s administration is keen on continuing to support the sport.

The Emirates Club Jiu-Jitsu Team achieved many great successes during the recent period, winning around 55 medals in different championships this season. The number of competitors in the club has increased, from 44 in the 2015/2016 season to 92 in the 2016 /2017 season.
