ActionsSaud bin Saqr: Ras Al Khaimah; A Promising Economic Destination October 03,2019
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, affirmed that Ras Al Khaimah underwent an exceptional journey through which it shifted from relying on pearl hunting and trade to becoming a promising economic destination witnessing constant growth on all levels.
This came during a speech by His Highness at the 2019 Middle East & North Africa Leaders Forum, organized by the World Tourism & Travel Council (WTTC) for the first time in the region, in partnership with Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, held at Al Hamra Convention Center in the Emirate, with the participation of top leaders and experts in the tourism sector in the region and the world.
His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah said that the constant striving for development is the main motivator of Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE in general, in search of a brighter future.
His Highness said “The founding fathers established strong bases for this country when their wills were joined with the utmost sincerity and fidelity to announce the birth of this young state. We at Ras Al Khaimah are constantly striving to realize more successes and achievements to transform ambitions vision to tangible reality.”
About his future vision for the Emirate, His Highness said: “We at Ras Al Khaimah are committed to achieving the highest criteria of sustainability on the economic and social levels to serve the interests of all those who live in the Emirate and the UAE in general. This has prompted us to adopt an integrated methodology that made Ras Al Khaimah one of the most diverse economies in the region. The participation of each single sector does not exceed more than 30% of the Emirate’s GDP. In the tourism sector in particular, Ras Al Khaimah achieved a quantum leap as visitors increased from 400,000 to more than one million within the past seven years."
His Highness said the Emirate's development strategy is based on a firm approach from which it does not deviate, where all the main sectors including tourism, heavy industries and manufacturing, ports, quarries, and free zones defer to a common denominator, which relies in its essence on a number of higher principles, mainly wise governance, independent judiciary, and flexible and advanced legal framework.
His Highness said Ras Al Khaimah has developed an integrated strategy for managing the tourism sector that combines all resources to meet all the needs of investors, in order to ensure that the desired goals of all parties operating in the tourism system are achieved, noting that this ambitious strategy which has been designed based on a large collection of verified data is based entirely on the principles of wise governance and institutional administration.
The 2019 Middle East & North Africa Leaders Forum, organized by the World Tourism & Travel Council, witnesses the participation of top leaders and decision makers in the sector, including ministers, senior executives, and experts, who gather to discuss various topics and review developments in the tourism industry in the region via a number of seminars which seek to formulate visions and ideas that can support the tourism industry in all facets.
