The History of RAK Fort: National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah. The fort dates back to the 19th Century. The Watch Tower section is shown on the maps drawn by the attacking British Forces during Circa 1809.

In 1984, the late Shiekh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras AL Khaimah used the fort as residence for the Ruling Family and the Rulers Court. After the Ruler and the Ruling Family had moved to Al Maamourah the fort in 1964 was used as the Police Head Quarters and later uses as Central Prison.

In 1984, the Ruler ordered to use the Fort as a Museum and it was officially inaugurated in 1987
