Soft Monitoring for a Sustainable Environment Award Launched in Ras Al Khaimah October 11,2018

Ras Al Khaimah Environment Protection and Development Authority launched the first edition of “Soft Monitoring for a Sustainable Environment” award, which was listed in the golden category of “British Idea Society” for 2018, as an innovative and leading idea and initiative in the field of environmental work.
The launch was attended by HH Sheikha Amna bint Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi; HE Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development; and HE Maryam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mehairi, Minister of State for Food Security; as well as a number of female leaders and environmental pioneers. Dr. Saif Mohammed Al Ghais, Director General of RAK EPDA, said: “This award os about enabling women to achieve sustainable environment, through innovating eco-friendly practices, which can encourage women to volunteer to protect the environment and its resources.”
Al Ghais added that this initiative and award in addition to others launched by the Authority positioned Ras Al Khaimah as leader both locally and globally. These initiatives were launched due to the keenness of HH  Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah to foster a sustainable environment, according to the UAE Vision 2021 agenda, and as a part of the strategy of Ras Al Khaimah Government. He also pointed that this initiative comes under the patronage of HH Sheikha Hana bint Juma Al Majid, the Wife of HH Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah; and HH Sheikha Amna bint Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi
For her part, Eng. Moza Obaid Al Muhairi, Ast. Director General of RAK EPDA stated that the award aims to enable women and prove their abilities, as well as implement the best practices to achieve a sustainable environment, and raise the awareness about the federal and local environmental laws. The award also aims to promote volunteer environmental work and to encourage entities to excel in the fields of research and innovation to find solutions for environmental challenges.
The award consists of several categories including excellent programs and practices in the field of food security, best female researcher in environmental work, and women environmental pioneers, as well as environmentally excellent organization, and best environmental female team. At the conclusion of the ceremony, HH Sheikha Amna bint Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, HE Hessa Essa Buhumaid, and HE Maryam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mehairi honored the female pioneers in environmental work, within the UAE's environmental entities, as well as the volunteers of “Soft Monitoring for a Sustainable Environment.”
