RAK Ruler urges scientists to find solutions to environmental challenges February 19,2017

RAS AL-KHAIMAH, 17th February, 2017 (WAM) -- The UAE is encouraging scientists and researchers to find solutions to meet environmental challenges facing the world today, said H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, in his opening address at the International Workshop on Advanced Materials (IWAM-2017), being held here from 19th to 21st February.
The UAE is supporting scientific efforts aimed at adopting best international practices to create a sustainable development that contributes to improving living standards, he stated.
Sheikh Saud bin Saqr urged scientists to harness their knowledge, experiences and experiments to present research projects that serve mankind and nature.
More than 100 researchers, scientists and students are attending the three-day event, which will host discussions on fundamental science and applications of advanced materials, including nanostructured materials and nanotechnology. These will include 24 talks by world leaders on advanced materials, along with discussions on research topics in the development of clean and renewable energy, nanomedicine and a clean environment.
Organised and sponsored by the Ras Al-Khaimah Centre for Advanced Materials (RAK CAM), under the theme "Innovation in Energy Materials," the workshop aims to encourage international research collaboration with RAK CAM in diverse areas, ranging from chemical, electronic and magnetic materials to environmental, renewable energy and biomedical applications.
