RAK Crown Prince heads Executive Council meeting May 24,2017

RAS AL KHAIMAH, 24th May, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras al-Khaimah and Chairman of the Executive Council, today chaired the second meeting of the Council for 2017.

At the start of the session, the council adopted the minutes of its previous meetings and reviewed the topics listed on its work schedule that was related to service projects, strengthening the government’s supervisory role, developing its legislative structure, building institutions and the plans for electronic and smart transformation.

Dr. Mohammed Abdul Latif Khalifa, Secretary-General of the Executive Council, clarified that during the meeting, the council viewed the report of the Economic Committee regarding the general framework of the country’s industrial strategy, including its vision, goals and various initiatives, to increase the contribution of the industrial sector in local production.

The council issued a directive to co-ordinate its efforts and co-operate to make its initiatives a success and seek guidance from strategic directors for developing the industrial sector in the emirate, and supporting industries based on knowledge and innovation, and encouraging investment in priority industries.

The council approved a decrease in the fees for economic licences in remote areas to support their economic development and encourage investment, answering the needs of the residents of these areas for goods and services while removing business obstacles.

The council also presented the report of the General Health and Environment Committee and directed the continuing study of developing an environmental supervisory role, to strengthen general health and safety and contribute to maintaining standard environmental considerations.

The council discussed the report of the Electronic and Smart Transformation Committee including initiatives and achievements related to government strategy. It also confirmed a plan to execute a group of major electronic projects in the sector of electronic signatures that rely on the most sophisticated international standards, as well as a project of the Ras al-Khaimah Smart Data Platform to support the process of decision-making. It also called for the spread and exchange of data within the emirate and around the country, a Smart ID project to provide government services without the need for the physical presence of the person requesting the service, a project on the electronic connections between local and federal authorities, and a project for providing government services through self-service machines.

The council also viewed a study provided by the Municipality Department about the demands of activating the first stage of the Al Salehiya Industrial project and its infrastructure and service requirements, to strengthen the economic advantage and facilitate economic and industrial activities. The council also adopted an assorting system and a mechanism for calculating costs.
