Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah.
The conference will run until 28th March, 2017 in Ras al-Khaimah.

Those attending the conference will discuss 38 chemistry research papers, with participation from 20 organisations from 17 Arab countries, with the aim of promoting scientific communication between scientific minds from various areas and to foresee the future of chemistry through advanced applications in industry, medicine and the environment.

The main speakers and sponsors were honoured during the opening of the conference, in the presence of Mohammed Ahmed Al Keet, Emiri Court Advisor and Director of the Antiquities and Museums Department; Dr. Ahmed Ali Murad, Dean of the Sciences Faculty at United Arab Emirates University, UAEU; as well as a delegation from the Asian Chemical Editorial Society, ACES; members of the executive office of the Union of Arab Chemists; and heads of chemistry organisations and syndicates.

The President of the UAE Chemical Society and President of the Conference, Moza Matar Al Shamsi, said in her speech that chemistry is the key to creativity and inventions, as pharmacology and medicine were both derived from chemistry, as are the industrial, urban, technological and nuclear revolutions.

She added that the conference received participation from various research centres and universities, and 70 summaries were selected, after being reviewed and scrutinised, of which 50 summaries were chosen as introductory presentations. Some 20 summaries were then selected as papers for presentation and discussion.

She further added that the organizers communicated with participating scientific and industrial organisations to co-operate in the conference’s organisation.

She thanked H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi for his patronage of the event, and for the many other events of the UAE Chemical Society, since its establishment eight years ago.

The conference covered nuclear, industrial and applied chemistry, as well as medicine, health sciences, clean energy and its implementation. It also discussed nano-technology, sustainable environmental chemistry, recycling, desalination and water treatment.
